Through this series, “Tété pa jen tro lou pou lèstomak,” a Guyanese proverb that translates to “Your breasts are never too heavy for your chest,” NouN explores the mental burden women carry and the physical and social weight that weighs on their bodies. The female body is subject to numerous pressures that weigh on women's mental load: the dictates of fashion, motherhood, ageism, and sexuality. Avoiding the exoticization and eroticization of female bodies, the artist delves into the complexes and marks left by life.
Around twenty women responded by agreeing to be photographed and to tell me, in the privacy of their homes, what their mental load is.

This work came into being in 2023, during a period of overwork for the artist, when a friend shared this proverb with her. For several months, she created self-portraits in photography and painting before asking women in her circle to pose for her camera in Paris. In November 2024, she put out a call on her social media and organized photo sessions with women in Cayenne.

À travers cette série « Tété pa jen tro lou pou lèstomak », dolo (proverbe) guyanais qui se traduit par « Tes seins ne sont jamais trop lourds pour ton torse », NouN explore la charge mentale des femmes et les poids physiques et sociaux qui pèsent sur leurs corps. Le corps féminin est en proie à de nombreuses injonctions qui pèsent sur la charge mentale des femmes: les diktats de la mode, la maternité, l’âgisme ou encore la sexualité. En évitant l’exotisation et l’érotisation des corps féminins, l'artiste plonge dans les complexes et les marques laissés par la vie.
Une vingtaine de femmes ont répondu présentes en acceptant d’être photographiées et pour raconter dans le creux de leur intimité ce qu’est leur charge mentale.

Ce travail voit le jour en 2023, pendant une période de surmenage pour l’artiste où une amie lui confit ce proverbe. Pendant plusieurs mois elle créée des autoportraits en photographie et en peinture avant de demander à des femmes de son entourage de poser devant sa caméra à Paris. En novembre 2024, elle passe un appel sur ses réseaux et organise des sessions de photos avec des femmes à Cayenne.
